Description:
Taught at HVCC for ATE program only. This is an overview course in manufacturing processes including basic metal removal processes and basic metal forming processes. The construction, purpose and operation of all standard machine tools and special high production type machine tools will be covered. Upon completion of this course students should demonstrate and put into practice a thorough knowledge of manufacturing laboratory safety, be familiar with basic shop drawings, and basic hand tools, be able to demonstrate dimensional measurement and layout technologies, be able to perform sawing, drilling, turning, and milling machine operation to produce specific components and demonstrate a knowledge of grinding technology with an emphasis on surface grinding.
