Lecture 3 hours; 3 credits. Prerequisite: SOC 201S or CRJS 215S or completion of social science perspective or permission of instructor. A critical analysis of violence against women as an institution of social control. Examines violence in the context of social and political inequality and feminist critique. Issues explored include pornography, prostitution, sexual harassment, incest, battering and rape. (cross-listed with SOC 527)
