Learn how to analyze the structure of the head, skull and facial features as well as the use of artificial and natural lighting to emphasize shadows to create volume and drama. You will begin with monochrome studios in graphite, charcoal and conte and work toward painted image in color using oil, acrylic or pastel. Learn the use of surrounding space to create narrative. The goal is a firm foundation from whih to develop your personal style. Painting from photos of persons outside the class can be used as an additional opportunity to utilize the techniques being presented. Bring a 2B pencil and paper to first class.
