N 9426 - The American Southwest

Institution:
Orange County Community College
Subject:
Non-Credit
Description:
Anyone traveling with the college to the American southwest in June 2009 must take this CAPE course or register for one hour of Field Study. Join SUNY Orange's Global Initiative: Sustaining the Earth in a visit to the Four Corners area of the American Southwest during Summer Session 1. Despite this region's uncompromising natural environment, it has been the home to numerous Native American groups for the millennia as well as a rapidly expanding contemporary population. Our trip will explore both the natural and cultural landscape to examine the nuanced relationships between people and environment. The first of four pre-trip seminars where you'll meet trip members, learn about what you'll need on the trip, and meet experts in the field begins at 4PM June 8 in Hudson 210, Middletown campus. Come and enjoy the beauty of the southwest. Contact Dr. Cory Harris at 845-341-4464 for more info.
