Description:
Presents an overview of assessment and evaluation tools; how to administer, score and interpret them; then to use the information for determining the appropriate treatment and support alternatives. Will also familiarize students with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Volume 4 (DSM IV) and its proper use in determining diagnostic criteria for both substance abuse and mental disorders. A third component of this course will be in completing a comprehensive Psychological Intake Assessment, including both a drug/alcohol and family history genogram.
