This course is an introduction to the art and architecture of Pre-Columbian civilizations. Throughout the semester, we will discuss the art of the Southeast, Southwest, Northwest Coast regions of United States, The Olmec, Teotihuacan, Maya, and Aztec of Mesoamerica, and the Chavin, Moche, Nasca, and Inka of South America. We will examine objects in terms of style and iconography. Analysis takes an interdisciplinary approach.
