This course will explore the theory and research on the causes of abuse, including individual and family factors, intergenerational aspects, gender issues, community and societal influences, as well as cultural factors. Strategies and treatment for alleviating family violence will be explored, including systems which are currently in place and other societal systems of response to this social problem.
