Research in Brazil will teach students to do fieldwork. Students will learn to observe, interview, and photograph strangers as well as record, analyze, and report findings. Class memebers will also study five distinct sites in Brazil: Salvador da Bahia (once one the world's worst slave ports), the Amazon Rainforest, the Pantanal (world's largest inland swamp), the Iguacu Falls, and of course, Rio de Janeiro. On most days, the entire class will go on fieldtrips in the morning, foursomes will follow their own agendas in the afternoon (including sitting on world famous beaches), collective review of photos and field notes will occur after dinner, and optional trips to nightspots at nights. Fees: $2935 Satisfies intercultural OR international exploratory requirement.
