This travel course covers the classical period through the Renaissance. Italy offers more examples of Classical, Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque art than perhaps any other single country. Profiles in leadership in religion and art: Religious and political innovators: St. Peter, St. Paul, Constantine, and the growth of the Papacy, St. Francis, and the Doges. The Artist as Cultural Leader: Giotto, Caravaggio, Raphael, Michelangelo, Palladio.
