This intercultural leadership course is an introduction to gender, sexuality, and the family in Latin America from the pre-Columbian era to the present. Come learn about the culture of honor in Spanish America, where just touching a man's beard could spark violence. Explore the dramatic differences in how the Incas, Aztecs, and Spaniards conceptualized childhood. Find out how marriages helped build Brazilian roads. See how women like Eva Peron and Rigoberta Menchu played leading roles in advancing social justice and Indigenous rights in the 20th century. As part of the examination of these, and other topics, the course will introduce students to the study of leadership (including leadership theories, conflict management, decision making, power and influence, and vision)
