WIN 407 - Burden of Vietnam:Myth&Reality

Institution:
Franklin College - Indiana
Subject:
Description:
This course will examine United States involvement in Vietnam from 1945 to 1975, with discussions of the military, political, diplomatic, and social impacts of the war. On a deeper level, the course will focus upon how America's entry into that conflict grew out of her own past and her perceptions and beliefs about herself. America's experience in Vietnam called into question our national myth - the belief that our society is a "city upon a hill," an example of virtue to other nations that also has a redemptive mission in the world.
