Physical disability and/or chronic illness are challenging problems for individuals and their families. Adaptive and maladaptive reactions to disability and the coping reactions in adjustment will be discussed. Assessment of the family system, with emphasis on discovering the "meaning of disability" and looking at a number of assessment devices like the ecomap will be included.
