Intensive study of the political, social, and cultural forces that made the 1960s perhaps the most dynamic era in modern American history and the dramatic innovations those years provoked in the art, music, literature, film, journalism, lifestyles, social activism, and religious practices of the time and of succeeding decades. Particular emphasis will be placed on examination and discussion of the significance of the youth culture, protest movements, and student activism during the period under study.
