This course is designed to provide an understanding of the realities of international diplomacy. Within the context of the United Nations, students learn and practice the art of politicking, including the use of rules of procedure and methods of conflict resolution. Students develop understanding of the activities of the United Nations through the study of current pressing international issues, the basics of international law and the variety of international perspectives on these topics. This study prepares students for the culmination of the course in which students assume the role of distinguished diplomatic representatives at a conference simulating the United Nations. Instructor permission is required to enroll in this course. Estimated cost per student: $950 Course satisfies Intercultural exploratory requirement.
