Materials Science is a multidisciplinary field requiring knowledge of chemistry, physics, and mechanics. In this ¿first course¿ we examine effect of chemistry on molecular structure and physical and mechanical properties of materials, and we examine methods of controlling those properties. Examples from the various engineering disciplines are used. Prerequisites: ESCI210, ESCI310; or BME320
