The study of inventory control pertains to topics related to the more comprehensive area of materials management. This includes directly addressing areas such as: materials management, inventory fundamentals, physical inventory and warehouse management, purchasing, forecasting and Just in Time (JIT) manufacturing. Topics also addressed in a tangential manner include: order quantities, independent and dependent demand order quantities, production planning, master scheduling, material requirements planning, capacity management, and production activity control. This course supplements the broader topic of supply chain management.
