MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to: Copy from ACT Product Book but review and update as necessary 1. To learn the major types of database systems and where they are used. 2. To provide an overview of the steps involved in a database development project. 3. How to build a conceptual model of a database system, based on what the users tell you. 4. To discover the real needs of your client organization and to satisfy them. 5. To introduce you to the relational database model and normalization. 6. To convert an entity-relationship model to a relational model. 7. To convert a relational model into a Microsoft Access database. 8. To create a database using the SQL language. 9. To build a database application that facilitates access to the data in an Access database. 10. To discuss issues of database security and data integrity. 11. To discuss issues involved with creating enterprise databases and applications. 12. To emphasize the importance of constant communication with the customer.
