A view of Italian culture and civilization through current issues in Italy. The course helps students develop a critical viewpoint of particular features of contemporary Italian society and how they are affecting the important role of Italy in the European community and the world. The course also illustrates a clear panorama of Italian culture by analyzing art and art restoration in Italy, Italian education, health care, immigration issues, the differences between north and south and the linguistic diversity of the peninsula.
