Client-Centered Pregnancy Options Counseling (for all family planning staff): This course is designed for all family planning staff working in Title X-supported settings who provide pregnancy testing or work with pregnant women. Title X Family Planning providers are required to offer Options Counseling to all women and teens who receive a positive pregnancy test result, which includes a discussion of the options that are available to the client: prenatal care and delivery, infant care and parenting, foster care or adoption, and abortion. This course focuses on enhancing participants' client-centered skills that can be applied to help a client explore her feelings and concerns about pregnancy, weigh the available alternatives, and make an independent decision. Through presentations, discussions, self-assessments, and case scenarios, participants will explore their feelings and responses to options counseling and how those feelings impact work performance. Participants will learn client-centered counseling skills that can be applied to help clients explore their feelings and concerns about pregnancy, weigh the available alternatives, and make an independent decision.
