Sexually Transmitted Infections: Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention (for clinicians only): This four-week course is designed for Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, Physician Assistants, and Physicians who work in Title X family planning settings. The latest clinical, epidemiological, and behavioral information about STIs will be provided. Strategies for managing challenging patient scenarios including recurrent vaginitis, drug resistance, partner treatment, and others addressing STI screening, treatment and prevention will be presented. Anticipated changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's STD Screening and Treatment Recommendations will be identified and implications for clinical practice will be discussed. Participants will be encouraged to present their own challenging cases for expert and peer review. Sexually Transmitted Infections: Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention (for all family planning staff): This four-week course is designed for counselors, health educators, social workers, nurses (RNs and LPNs), clinic assistants and other staff working in Title X settings. The latest epidemiological and behavioral information about STIs will be examined. An overview or STI transmission and prevention will be provided. Strategies for talking with clients about STD-related issues such as vaginal discharge, risk reduction, male and female condom use, and feminine hygiene will be explored. Participants will be encouraged to present their own challenging client scenarios for expert and peer review.
