Contraceptive Methods in Family Planning (for clinicians only): This four-week course is designed for Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, Physician Assistants, and Physicians who work in Title X family planning settings. The latest clinical information about contraceptive methods including natural family planning, barrier methods, hormonal methods, and long-acting reversible methods will be provided. Challenging patient case scenarios will be presented. Contraindications of specific methods and best contraceptive management strategies will be discussed. The US Adaptation of the World Health Organization's medical eligibility criteria for contraceptive use and its relevance to clinical decision-making will be examined. Participants will be encouraged to present their own challenging cases for expert and peer review. Contraceptive Methods in Family Planning (for all family planning staff): This four-week course is designed for counselors, health educators, social workers, nurses (RNs and LPNs), clinic assistants and other staff working in Title X settings who assist clients with contraceptive decision-making. The latest information about contraceptive methods including natural family planning, barrier methods, hormonal methods, and long-acting reversible methods will be provided and related counseling messages discussed. Strategies for counseling clients about family planning and contraceptive methods will be explored through case scenarios and real-world work experience. Contraceptive counseling and communication skill-building opportunities will be facilitated. Participants will be encouraged to present their own challenging client scenarios for expert and peer review.
