This theory course involves the study of the classes of drugs, their uses, mechanism of actions, systemic effects, adverse effects and contraindications. Specific examples of drugs will be used as models to explain various classes. Specific analysis of sensory/perceptual functioning, oxygenation/perfusion, comfort/rest/activity/mobility/safety, digestion, endocrine, integumentary, neurological, alterations of sexuality, immune, and excretory/elimination drugs, using biochemical and physiological concepts will be discussed. Prerequisites: BIO 120/121 or BIO 200/201.
