THERREC 4196 - Therapeutic Recreation Clinical Procedures

Description:
This course allows students to further their understanding of clinical practice in therapeutic recreation through an examination of how recreation therapists use activity-based interventions, the environment, and therapeutic relationships to facilitate individual and group behavioral change. Students design protocols for intervention groups and simulate leadership techniques used by recreation therapists in clinical practice. Field-based application of group planning and leadership is required.

Note: This course is for majors only and should be taken the semester before enrolling in THERREC 4185 (0380). Field-based application of group planning and leadership is required. All Health Related Professions courses (HRP 1101, 2103) and Cognate Core courses (KNSLOGY 1223, PSYCH 1061, PSYCH/SOC 1167, PSYCH 2301/EDUC 1322, and PSYCH 2201) must be successfully passed with a C or better to move on to this upper division Therapeutic Recreation course.
