This junior-level seminar takes a focused approach to the literature and cultural production of one or two regions of the formerly colonized world: Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, and the Pacific. Specific concentrations may center around the emergence and future of the postcolonial literature in question, or on the evolution of a genre (novel, Bildungsroman, poetry, or theater) in light of a selected topic (gender, hybridity, exile, nationalism, or globalization, among others).
