Study of the social, cultural, economic, psychological, and political factors associated with race and crime in the United States. Examination of the real and perceived relationship between race/ethnicity and criminal activity, as well as the impact of both personal and institutional racism on the criminal justice system. Note: This course can be used to satisfy the university Core Studies in Race (RS) requirement. Although it may be usable towards graduation as a major requirement or university elective, it cannot be used to satisfy any of the university GenEd requirements.
