Individual independent study and research under supervision of a member of the Chemistry faculty. Students enrolled in this course will also meet as a group with the Undergraduate Research Program Director for one hour per week. Open to junior and senior chemistry and biochemistry majors, others with permission of the department. A final written report will be submitted to the faculty member, who will forward a copy to the Department’s Undergraduate Research Coordinator. Students are responsible for arranging their program and submitting reports with lead-time sufficient that registration and grading can be accomplished normally. Only 1 of these 2 courses [Chemistry 3891 (0293) and 4891 (0297)] can count as 1 of the 3 advanced laboratory courses required for the degree to be certified by the American Chemical Society and as an advanced science course for the Chemistry B.A. or B.S. degree. It will not fulfill an advanced Chemistry course for the Chemistry B.A. or B.S. degree. This course is repeatable for credit.
