Introduction to basic methods of research and methodological issues in African American Studies. This course provides an overview of social research methods, addresses sociocultural issues in research conceptualization, operationalization and design, and introduces basic analytic concepts and operations. Students work in small groups to design an original, IRB-compliant multi-method study to address an issue that local communities deem important to their quality of life.Note: Offered during Fall semester only. Students should complete AF-AM S 4096 in the Spring immediately after this course.
