This course takes students to cities around the world, and across time, examining how national cinemas have richly depicted and interpreted urban life during the last hundred years. We will study both screen images as well as the business structure that produces them and the audiences that view them. The urban focus of the course is international, including Tokyo, London and Rome, but the “home” setting is Philadelphia itself. Note: This course fulfills the World Society (GG) requirement for students under GenEd and International Studies (IS) for students under Core.
Students cannot receive credit for this course if they have successfully completed FMA 0969.
