PED 147 - Scottish Country Dancing

The course explores the traditional social dancing of Scotland: reels, jigs, and strathspeys (slow dances). Basic steps and figures are taught in ever class and incorporated into specific dances. Students will be introduced to a variety of exciting music (fiddle, piano, accordian, bagpipes) and the the French etiquette and the history of the dance. No previous experience, partners, or kilts are required. Students may repeat this course a maximum of two times.
