This nursing elective examines a highly specialized area in nursing known as health care informatics. The course analyzes the application of information technologies in relation to the management and communication of data, information, and knowledge in health care. Students review the basic components of computers and data processing. The applicability of social, moral, legal, ethical, and economic issues of health care to information systems is also examined. Prerequisites: NUR 206.
