Description:
The elements of language acquisition and their impact on content learning in order to meet the needs of English Language Learners in today's diverse classrooms are examined in this course. As part of their studies, students learn the framework for the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP). This framework provides teachers with the ability to facilitate high-quality instruction for English Language Learners in specific content areas. Pre-service teachers are also taught how to plan and deliver lessons that allow English Language Learners to acquire academic knowledge as they develop proficiency in the English language.
