(Alternate years 2009-2010) Study of sectional forms including binary, ternary, theme and variation, sonata, rondo, and sonata-rondo forms as used in music of the 18th-19th centuries. The student demonstrates an active knowledge of these forms through the writing of a sonata in four movements. Prerequisite: Sophomore class standing.
