(Alternate years 2010-2011) Students in this course will practice the techniques of information gathering and writing in various journalistic styles (news stories, features, editorials/columns). Students will develop a variety of research and interviewing skills, as well as the ability for perceptive observation. Students will learn to write tightly, clearly, and colorfully,--and discern how to tailor their writing to different target audiences. Fulfills the elective for the Communication Core requirement and is required for the Communications major. Prerequisite: EN 101 or instructor consent.
