CAMPUS NAME AND ADDRESS: (To be completed by the Louisiana Technical College Campus) CIP CODE: 490309 CREDIT HOURS (Lecture/Lab/Total): N/A CONTACT HOURS (Lecture/Lab/Total): 8 CLASS LOCATION: ( To be completed by the Louisiana Technical College Campus) INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION: ( To be completed by the Louisiana Technical College Campus) COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course deals with the completion of training requirements of Elementary First Aid/CPR in compliance with 46 Code of Federal Regulations 12.205 (1)(3) ND section A-VI/1-3 of the Seafarer's Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code. Completers will receive a certificate-Elementary First Aid/CPR. PREREQUISITES: None COURSE OBJECTIVES: The student will learn how to provide immediate basic medical care at the scene of an accident or other medical emergency until the arrival of a person with first aid skills including: assessment of needs and casualties and threats to safety; resuscitation, bleeding, basic shock management, burn treatment, rescue and transport of a casualty, and bandaging and emergency kit materials. . TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS: ( To be completed by the Louisiana Technical College Campus) ATTENDANCE POLICY: All students are to complete courses as scheduled. Students will not be allowed to "make up" time in any course.Because of Coast Guard requirements concerning attendance, students who cannot complete a course within the scheduled timeframe, will be required to re-schedule to take the entire course. Tuition currently extends for a two-month period of time for all courses over 24 hours. If a student is able to re-schedule the course within that timeframe, there will be no additional tuition cost to him/her. If a course cannot be re-scheduled within the two-month period allowed, the student will need to fill out another application and repay tuition for that course. EVALUATION AND GRADING: (To be completed by the Louisiana Technical College Campus.) ACADEMIC HONESTY: Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited. In addition to other possible disciplinary sanctions, which may be imposed through the regular institutional procedures as a result of academic misconduct, your instructor will assign an zero for the exercise or examination that evidences academic misconduct for the first offense and assign an "F" for the course for repeated offenses.STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: The Louisiana Technical College complies with Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
