Includes awareness of standards and regulations related to planning a diving operation. Includes an overview of special rules for liveboating and an introduction to blueprint reading and report writing. PREREQUISITES: DIVE 1020 Diving Physics, DIVE 1040 Air Decompression, DIVE 1080 Logs, Records, and Standards, DIVE 1100 Diving Equipment, DIVE 1111 Marine Engines and Compressors Lab, DIVE 1150 Mixed Gas Diving COURSE OBJECTIVES: Describe the importance of proper planning to the success of a diving operation Identify the eleven steps in the planning process Relate standards and regulations to dive planning. Describe liveboating techniques, procedure, and safety considerations. Relate liveboating regulations to dive planning. Read and interpret blueprints. Identify work area from a schematic or drawing. Discuss report writing. TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS: Note taking materials, Notes and Handouts from prerequisite courses. ATTENDANCE POLICY: In the Commercial Diving Program attendance limits are 30 hours per semester or 10% of any course. Exceeding these limits will result in being dropped from the program. An absence at test time will result in a zero for the test. EVALUATION AND GRADING: Evaluation is by written tests. Each individual test must be passed with a grade of 70% or more. A student is allowed a maximum of 2 attempts to pass a test. If a grade of 70% is still not achieved the course must be repeated. If a test is passed on the 2nd attempt a maximum grade of 70% will be recorded regardless of the score achieved. An absence at test time is regarded as the first attempt and receives a zero. The grading scale at Louisiana Technical College for all programs, except those regulated by a licensing board, is listed below. The students' transcript will include the letter grade only, not the percentage grade. 90% - 100% A 80% - 89% B 70% - 79% C 60% - 69% D 59% - Below F ACADEMIC HONESTY: Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited. In addition to other possible disciplinary sanctions, which may be imposed through the regular institutional procedures as a result of academic misconduct, your instructor will assign a zero for the exercise or examination that evidences academic misconduct for the first offense and assign an "F" for the course for repeated offenses.STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: The Louisiana Technical College complies with Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
