Covers U.S. Navy tables and procedures, no-decompression dives, repetitive groups, Standard Air Table, Surface Oxygen Table, Surface Air Table, exceptional exposures, and altitude diving tables and computations. Practical application of tables in theoretical dives. Students keep track of each other's decompression during dives. PREREQUISITES: DIVE 1030 Diving Physiology COURSE OBJECTIVES: Define decompression. Identify the types of decompression. Discuss the history of decompression. Discuss air diving procedures. Describe repetitive groups. Use the No-Decompression Limits and Repetitive Group Designation Table in hypothetical situations. Use the Residual Nitrogen Timetable for Repetitive Air Dives in hypothetical situations. Use the U.S. Navy Standard Air Decompression Table in hypothetical situations. Use the Surface Decompression Table Using Oxygen in hypothetical situations. Use the Surface Decompression Table Using Air in hypothetical situations. Explain exceptional exposures. Explain the need for altitude diving tables and procedures. Describe the computation of altitude diving tables. TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS: Note taking material ATTENDANCE POLICY: In the Commercial Diving Program attendance limits are 30 hours per semester or 10% of any course. Exceeding these limits will result in being dropped from the program. An absence at test time will result in a zero for the test. EVALUATION AND GRADING: Evaluation is by written tests. Each individual test must be passed with a grade of 70% or more. A student is allowed a maximum of 2 attempts to pass a test. If a grade of 70% is still not achieved the course must be repeated. If a test is passed on the 2nd attempt a maximum grade of 70% will be recorded regardless of the score achieved. An absence at test time is regarded as the first attempt and receives a zero. The grading scale at Louisiana Technical College for all programs, except those regulated by a licensing board, is listed below. The students' transcript will include the letter grade only, not the percentage grade. 90% - 100% A 80% - 89% B 70% - 79% C 60% - 69% D 59% - Below F ACADEMIC HONESTY: Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited.
