Credits: 3 Prerequisite: appropriate Accuplacer score Applying critical thinking skills to college reading is the focus of this course. This course provides students who read at the college level with strategies for successfully accomplishing the reading requirements of college texts and supplemental materials. Emphasis on engaging in reading using a critical thinking problem-solving approach will support students in developing their own learning strategies to succeed in a variety of college reading situations. Students will practice using basic problem solving strategies, distinguishing between fact and opinion, recognizing purpose and tone, and evaluating and creating arguments.
