Credits: 3 Prerequisite: none This course involves information and skills using pacing, compasses, maps, aerial photos, and various related equipment. In class we will discuss things such as azimuth, bearing, declination, various kinds of maps, and the different scales that are used in determining distance. We will discuss aerial photos and how they are used in resource work along with legal descriptions for the locations of various parcels of land. The lab will be field oriented and the use of various compasses, pacing techniques, and using transits will be covered as much as possible. However, some days will be spent inside working on maps and photos. GPS and GIS will be discussed. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none
