Credits: 3 Prerequisite: none This course is an introduction to the science of oceanography through the interdisciplinary areas of biology, chemistry, geology, and physics. This course includes lecture and discussion. Lecture will focus on the traditional topics which may include the ocean floor, plate tectonics, sea water chemistry, currents, waves, tides, coasts, and sea life. Discussion will focus on environmental topics which may include: pollution, overfishing and food supply, alternative energy, global warming, El Nino, tsunamis and storms, coastal problems, marine resources, etc. Non-lab course.
