This course examines legal systems in different cultures. It explores through comparison, and through ethnographic case studies, the relationship between law and culture; unctional definitions of law; dispute and dispute settlement; legal knowledge-both substantive law (statutes) and procedural law (forms of adjudication); legal principles and the underlying cultural precepts that inform action and conduct.
