Through extensive field trips to local art, science, ethnographic and history museums, this course introduces students to the history, goals, and current challenges of these institutions. Students consider such issues as how culture is represented in the museum, who benefits from museum displays, and how the museum shapes and reflects political agendas and domains of knowledge. (Course not offered on a regular basis.) Prerequisite: Two 300-level art history courses or permission of instructor. 3 Lect Hrs, 3 Credits
