Discussion of political, social and aesthetic issues; presentations of music, architecture (Bauhaus), visual arts (Expressionism), and film provide the context for readings ranging from Romantic poetry, Buchner's Woyzeck and Nietzsche's Zarathustra to prose by Mann, Kafka, Hesse and Grass.
