The course examines the basic principles on which behavior of nation-states is grounded. In doing so, it draws from several disciplines including history, economics, social psychology, law and geography; it also analyzes how issues, events and institutions such as nationalism, gender, social class, ethnicity, technology, multinational corporations, wars, political ideologies, cultural traditions, and financial interests influence and are influenced by the conduct of states.
