Seminar on transnational, immigrant communities in host countries. Migration fields, transnational immigrant networks, ethnic and racial identity formation, and economic enclaves. Theories of migration, globalization, and transnationalism. Political and cultural remittances exchanged between host and sending countries. Fieldwork and projects focus on transnational businesses and religious and cultural developments within Boston's immigrant communities. Prerequisites Junior standing.
