Development of this genre from early chronicles of discovery and conquest through New Journalism of the 1960s to more recent testimonial writings. Consideration of questions of form through examination of fictional, journalistic, and historical writings. Readings and discussion of Cuban, Bolivian, Guatemalan, Nicaraguan, and Argentine texts. Prerequisites Spanish 31 or 34, and 32 or 35, or permission of instructor.
