A review of perspectives on globalization based on the current debates among Rodrik, Friedman, Sen, Stiglitz, and others. The focus on world health includes tobacco use, obesity, and consumption in the developing world. Globalization is examined in the context of a formal global community and civil society defined by nation-states, markets, and international movements. Prerequisites Junior standing or permission of instructor.
