A survey of current research and theories in the area of child development through the first two years. Students will have the opportunity to observe newborn and infant behavior. Topics covered include genetic inheritance; development of sensory and motor systems; perception; early learning; early social interaction; attachment, including normative and atypical development. Emphasis placed on experimental evidence and methods as well as application.
