Molecular-level mechanism of action of compounds useful in human medicine. Introduces the biochemistry of a biological system relevant to a particular disease process, then focuses on the detailed interaction of chemotherapeutic agents with the system. Material is drawn principally from the primary literature. Course is not comprehensive. Topics may include antiviral/antitumor agents, compounds affecting immunity and inflammation, antibiotics, nucleic-acid-based therapeutics, and combinatorial drug discovery methods Prerequisites Biology 13 and Chemistry 52.
