Specific contributions of Middle Eastern ethnography to the understanding of self and society; kinship and politics; tribalism and development of urban life; sexuality and gender roles; religion and worldview. Anthropological contributions to understanding contemporary social change and relationships with the West. Prerequisites Sophomore standing or permission of instructor.
