Sources, range, and maintenance of human biological variation, using case studies of populations from throughout the Western hemisphere. Impact of changing fertility and mortality; biological effects of social and geographic isolation; inbreeding analyses; relations of assimilation to admixture, problems in correlating ethnicity, race, and appearance; ethnic differences in disease risk. Prerequisites Anthropology 20 or one biology course.
